Why We Do It
The Mike Patterson Foundation was founded in 2012 with our first event, a mini golf tournament. After a huge success, we decided to make it a continuous, year round effort, instead of a once per year event. It is our hope that we can count on your commitment to help us attain our goal of reaching $100,000 donated to Dana-Farber, in support of breast cancer research, by the end of 2015. Our promise is to always raise money for breast cancer research in memory of Mike Patterson and Nicole Heck

Where Your Money Goes
"Cancer is complicated. While we have achieved remarkable successes in treating many forms of the disease, we lack effective treatments for other subtypes. Drug resistance is a vexing problem, some therapies show terrific initial response only to lose effectiveness as the cancer mutates. The pace of discovery is slow because cancer is complex and our work is meticulous. Your support is crucial to turn promising research into effective treatments.
Private support is essential for conducting innovative basic research, which is not eligible for federal funding until well along in successful testing. Philanthropy provides seed funding to test our hypotheses and bring promising studies far enough along to attract federal support. "
